Burcu Yüksel hem klasik hem de çağdaş sanat alanlarında benzersiz bir uzmanlık tecrübesine sahip, Londra merkezli bir sanat danışmanıdır.
2006 yılında Brandeis Üniversitesi'nden Sanat Tarihi (Onur listesi) ile İktisat dallarından mezun olduktan sonra, 2008’de, New York Üniversitesi'nde, Görsel Sanatlar Yönetimi alanında yüksek lisansını tamamlamıştır. Şu anda, Gaia Sanat Vakfı’nın Direktörü ve 2009-2016 yılları arasında yönettiği, klasik resim uzmanı Derek Johns galerisinin danışmanıdır.
İlki Haziran 2015'te gerçeklesen, Londra'nın performans festivali Block Universe'ün kurucu ekibinden olan Burcu, çeşitli sanat kurumlarına aktif olarak destek olmaktadır. Royal Academy Genç Hamiler grubunun kurucu üyelerinden olduğu gibi, bu komitede 2011-2018 yıllarında görevde bulunmuştur. 2015-2017 senelerinde Parasol Unit Çağdaş Sanat Vakfı’nın Genç Hamiler grubunun eş-başkanı olarak çalışmış; bugün ise, Londra'da Chisenhale Galerisi hamisi, Outset Genç Hamiler Grubu'nun üyesi, New York’taki performans bienali PERFORMA'nın Vizyoneri ve İstanbul merkezli SAHA Derneği’nin genç üyesidir. Londra’da kurulan AWITA, Sanat Alanında Çalsan Kadınlar Birliği’nin parçasıdır.
Uluslararası Sanat Eleştirmenleri Derneği (AICA), Türkiye üyesi olarak, sanat dünyası ile ilgili farklı röportajlar yapmaktadir. Art Unlimited dergisi için geliştirdiği “Geniş Sohbetler” kapsamında, Lord Peter Palumbo, Candida Gertler OBE, Valeria Napoleone, George Wachter gibi sanat alanında tecrübe sahibi profesyonellerin görüşlerini paylaşmaktadır.
Ayrıca, Gilbert & George, Anselm Kiefer, Marina Abramovic, Antony Gormley, David Shrigley ve Gary Hume gibi sanatçıların yanı sıra Frieze kurucu ortağı Amanda Sharp ve Londra National Gallery eski direktörü Sir Nicholas Penny ile farklı yayımlar için röportajlar yapmıştır.
Burcu Yüksel is a London-based art consultant with a unique mix of expertise in old master paintings and contemporary art. She graduated from Brandeis University, Cum Laude in 2006 with a double concentration in History of Art (Honors) and Economics and holds an MA in Visual Arts Administration from New York University (2008).
Currently she is the Director of Gaia Art Foundation and acts as an advisor to the renowned London Old Masters gallery Derek Johns where she was Director 2009-2016. She was part of the founding team of London’s new performance festival Block Universe, which debuted in June 2015.
Burcu is also involved in a select number of non-profit arts organizations. She is a founding member of the Young Patrons of the Royal Academy where she served 2011-2018. She was Co-Chair of the Future Unit of the Parasol Unit Foundation for Contemporary Art, 2015-2017.
She is a patron of Istanbul-based SAHA Organization, a member of Outset Young Patrons Circle and patron of Chisenhale Gallery in London, and one of the Visionaries of PERFORMA, performance biennial in New York. She is a member of AWITA, the Association of Women in the Arts.
As a member of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA) Turkey, She is a regular contributor to Art Unlimited with her interview series “Extended Talks” where she interviews established art professionals, such as Lord Peter Palumbo, Candida Gertler OBE, Valeria Napoleone and George Wachter.
Her past interviewees for other publications include artists Gilbert & George, Anselm Kiefer, Marina Abramovic, Antony Gormley, David Shrigley and Gary Hume, as well as Frieze co-founder Amanda Sharp and Sir Nicholas Penny, former director of the National Gallery, London.
