Seçil Yersel (1973, İstanbul). Yersel, after her license on Sociology in Mimar Sinan University, made her master thesis on Art in Marmara University Fine Art Academy. Since 1994 she works with and within photography; but also with sound-text-montage; she writes, collects and shares her productions in exhibitions, publications and moments. Since 2000 Yersel is the co-founder of the artist collective Oda Projesi with Özge Açıkkol and Güneş Savaş. Oda Projesi situates itself specifically into the energetics of the city of İstanbul and its main objective has been to look at the rapid physical and social changes in the urban texture and the ways in which different subjectivities respond to these imposed changes by creating alternative modes of space making and establishing links of solidarity through relationships. Yersel started work life as an art director assistant for television movies in 1997, then she worked in the Art and Sculpture Museum, Istanbul. She was the project coordinator in various projects in an ngo called Wald. She worked as the chief editor in magazines such as Istanbul (Tarih Vakfı), Buğday and YemekveKültür magazine. Yersel was an atelierist in a kindergarten called Atölye Çocukevi and she documented the whole daily life in the kindergarten and a book came out called Hokul. Yersel writes since 1994 in terms of documenting, recording and noting the daily life of cities-residents and also through exhibitions, performances as well. The texts become visible through different collaborations, magazines, websites and books.
