Seyhan Musaoğlu

Seyhan Musaoğlu, sanatçı, küratör ve çağdaş sanata odaklanan bağımsız platform Space Debris Art’ın kurucusudur. Brandeis Üniversitesi'nde Sahne ve Güzel Sanatlar bölümlerinden yüksek onur derecesiyle mezun olmuş, New York'ta Parsons, The New School for Design'da yüksek lisansını tamamlamıştır. Sanatçı ve küratör olarak çalışmaları New York, Boston, İstanbul, Tokyo ve Curitiba gibi şehirlerde sergilenmiştir. 2009 yılında New York'ta medya, performans ve ses sanatları festivali olan {SØNiK}Fest’i kurmuş ve yönetmiştir. Ardından dört yıl boyunca Broadway1602 Galerisi’nde sanat direktörlüğü yapmıştır. 2014’te İstanbul Karaköy’de Space Debris’i kurmuştur. Bugüne kadar 48 sergi ve 44 etkinlik düzenleyen Musaoğlu, genç sanatçılar ve uluslararası işbirliklerine odaklanmaktadır. Aynı zamanda birçok özel ve kamu kurumuna küratoryal danışmanlık yapmaktadır. 2016–2018 arasında Mamut Art Project Performans Programı’nı Simge Burhanoğlu ile birlikte başlatmış ve küratörlüğünü yürütmüştür. 2019’da British Council tarafından Museum Without Walls projesine Türkiye’den seçilen küratör olmuştur. 2021’de Kültür Bakanlığı destekli İstanbul Dijital Sanat Festivali’nin “Dalınç” başlıklı ilk edisyonunu kürate etmiştir. Performistanbul Performans Sanatları Gelişim Derneği’nin kurucu üyelerindendir. Musaoğlu, küratöryel projeleri ve yazı çalışmalarının yanı sıra Space Debris Art’ı dijital platform olarak yeniden yapılandırmakta ve SDA Channel üzerinden sanatçı röportajları, sergi videoları ve eğitim içerikleri üretmektedir.

Artist, curator and founding director of Space Debris Art. Musaoğlu graduated from Brandeis University (Boston, MA) with high honors in the Department of Performing Arts and Fine Arts and completed her masters degree at Parsons, the New School of Design, Art, Media and Technology in New York. Her works has been exhibited in cities such as New York, Boston, Istanbul, Tokyo, Curitiba and Musaoğlu also took part in many different international projects as a curator and organizer. In 2009, he organized successful events with {SØNiK}Fest, the media, performance and sound festival he founded, directed and curated in New York. After successfully working as the art director of the Broadway1602 gallery in New York for four years, she founded Space Debris, also based in New York, in 2014 in Karaköy, Istanbul. In addition to her curatorial work, she has served as art consultant and curatorial consultant to various private and public institutions on a by project basis. Focusing on innovative creative projects and young talents at Space Debris, Musaoğlu exhibited the projects of many new local artists and important international collaborations. Space Debris, which has realized approximately forty-eight exhibitions and forty four events so far, is still involved in collaborative projects in the spirit of initiative. Musaoğlu, who initiated the Mamut Art Project performance program in 2016, curated and organized the Mamut Art Project Performance Art Program with the founder of Performistanbul, Simge Burhanoğlu, until 2018. In 2019, she became the curator selected from Turkey for the "Museum Without Walls"; project, in which the British Council collaborated with
England, Turkey, Ukraine and Georgia. She then was appointed to be the curator and organizer of the first edition of Istanbul Digital Art Festival held in Cistern of Philoxenos in 2021, titled “Dalınç”, which was supported by the Turkish Cultural Ministry of Istanbul. Musaoglu is also a founding member of the Performistanbul Performance Arts Development Association, which focuses on popularizing performance art in Turkey and creating a research library on performance art. She works and lives in Istanbul and works on curatorial projects and articles.
